Eusemere Lodge

Eusemere Lodge is an idyllic Lakeland retreat set on the banks of the River Eamont at the edge of Ullswater, with a magnificent two-storey tower extension. This spacious residence has five bedrooms and bathrooms, four reception rooms, as well as a sunroom and two integral garages. The lodge has a wonderful plot around 3/4 acre, with beautiful gardens overlooking the river and surrounding fells. Located in the desirable Lake District village of Pooley Bridge.

The Lodge originally marked the entrance to the late 18th Century Eusemere Estate, created by the renowned campaigner Thomas Clarkson. Eusemere Lodge is now an extensive residence set over two ‘wings’, with most of the rooms overlooking the grounds and river.

The original Lodge building houses three spacious reception rooms, with the main sitting room having a wood burning stove with sandstone surround and doors opening out onto the garden terrace. The dining room has a charming stained glass window and handsome panelled doors into the adjoining rooms.

The kitchen has modern fitted cabinets with granite worktops, integrated appliances and an Aga range. The room opens into a glazed breakfast room, with adjoining utility room. The lodge wing has three bedrooms and three bathrooms, with one having a roll top bath and double shower unit.

A wonderful glazed sunroom connects the Lodge to the tower extension, with attractive stained glass window, characterful exposed stone walls and french doors out to the garden patio. The tower wing has two ground floor bedrooms and two luxurious bathrooms, one having a roll top bath and the other a double rain shower unit.

From the entrance area the curved tower walls and staircase lead you up to a magnificent circular first floor room, which presently serves as a lounge but would also make a spectacular master bedroom. This unique space has a large glazed section with Juliet balcony overlooking the river and Dunmallard Hill.

Eusemere Lodge is located at the heart of the picturesque Lake District village of Pooley Bridge, overlooking the River Eamont and Lake Ullswater. This popular village has an excellent selection of places to eat and drink, as well as shops and village hall. Enjoy leisure time exploring the beautiful surrounding countryside and fells or simply relax on the lakeshore. There are various marinas with clubhouses along the lake, with Ullswater ‘Steamers’ pier and boat hire available in the village.
